Bush 41: No new chardonnays

It’s awfully hard to “drink likeW,” unless your beverage of choice is a tall, cool glass of iced tea. But you can sip and swirl just like W’s daddy, President George H.W. Bush.

During his four-year term, Bush 41 poured Sonoma County’s Ferrari-Carano chardonnay no less than seven times at White House dinners (you can find the menus framed on the walls of the tasting room in Geyserville, Calif.).

Turns out that, 15 years later, Bush still has a taste for the stuff. The attendant behind the counter in the tasting room this weekend told Yeas & Nays that Bush recently ordered two cases of the wine. He called in the order himself and paid with his own credit card, asking to have the wine sent to his home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Old habits die hard.
