In Presidents Cup, Woods finally gets the point

Woods and Johnson paired in fourth round (four-ball)

With a curling, 17-foot birdie putt, Tiger Woods got off the schneid, making the winning stroke in his foursomes match and capturing his first point in the 2011 Presidents Cup.

Woods and Dustin Johnson had a solid round of ball-striking, but their putting was woeful. The duo made only one birdie before Woods closed the match out. Woods and Johnson won 4 and 2 over Adam Scott and K.J. Choi.

Woods/Johnson will remain together today in the four-ball fourth round. Also playing together are Webb Simpson/Bubba Watson, again hitting the opening tee shots for the U.S.

Captain Fred Couples has benched veterans Phil Mickelson (3-0), who closed out the third round with a clinching 25-foot birdie putt, and David Toms (2-1). Steve Stricker (1-1), who sat out the foursomes on Saturday, will join Matt Kuchar (2-0-1). Nick Watney (0-1-1), who also sat out the foursomes, plays with Jim Furyk (3-0). Bill Hass (0-2-1) is paired with Hunter Mahan (2-1).
