The top-ranked University of Maryland men?s soccer team (4-2) fell to No. 4 Clemson, 2-1, in Friday?s Atlantic Coast Conference opener.
The host Tigers scored in the 11th minute, and Maryland?s Jeremy Hall responded with a goal just before halftime. Clemson, in front of a crowd of 6,821, put the game away in the 73rd minute.
“We weren?t at our best,” Terps coach Sasho Cirovski said in a team release. “But we still had a chance to win. We just let it slip away.”
The Maryland women also lost Friday. The Terps (2-2-1) fell to Dartmouth, 1-0, despite 15 saves from senior goalkeeper Nikki Resnik.
The men host Mount St. Mary?s on Wednesday, while the women host Loyola at 7 p.m. today.
NAVY
The Navy women defeated Butler, 5-1, Sunday to improve to 6-0 on the season. The Mids have outscored the opposition, 18-1, in those six wins. The Navy men (3-3) were shut out at the hands of No. 18 St. Louis on Sunday.
TOWSON
The Towson men (3-1-1) fell to Hartwick, 3-2, in overtime, in the final of the 31st annual Oneonta Mayor?s Cup on Sunday. The Tiger women (2-2-1) outshot Lafayette, 11-7, but lost on the game?s lone goal in the 84th minute.
UMBC
The women?s squad (3-2-1) beat Radford, 4-1, Sunday behind two goals from freshman Arielle Tagger. The Retriever men (1-4-1) lost to La Salle, 2-0, in the Drexel Invitational on Sunday.
LOYOLA
Despite outshooting Georgetown, 16-8, Loyola?s women (0-3-1) played to a scoreless tie with the Hoyas on Friday. The Greyhound men (0-4-1) fell to American, 2-1, despite a goal from freshman Jamie Darvill.

GOUCHER » The men (2-2) beat Ursinus, 3-1 Saturday, while the women (0-2) were blanked, 3-0, by Franklin and Marshall.
JOHNS HOPKINS » The JHU women (3-1) lost to No. 4 Puget Sound, 1-0 in double overtime Sunday. The Blue Jays men (4-1) lost to Wilkes University on Sunday, 1-0.
McDANIEL » The men?s squad (3-1) downed La Roche Sunday, 2-0, and the women?s team (1-1) lost to Frostburg, 2-1.
NOTRE DAME » The Gators (0-2-1) saw Saturday?s game at Chatham postponed.
