Skins coach looks upbeat after a day of reflection
Jim Zorn faced the media looking much different than two days ago. His smile returned; the animated side of him did as well. And he was able to joke about the line that shot across the country.
In short, he looked like himself — something he clearly didn’t resemble a day after losing to Cincinnati.

Zorn was upbeat as he addressed the team and his message carried through after practice. Zorn said he gave the players the day off Monday so he could take a look at himself to see what he could do better.
“We didn’t have time to revamp anything,” Zorn said. “We’re going in the right direction. … We’ll be better the next year. Does this system work? Yeah and I know why: there are about 13 teams in the NFL that use this system.”
Zorn said he received numerous text messages and calls from friends, in the business and out of it after he said Monday that he felt like the “worst coach in America.”
“I just had to assure everyone that I’m OK. … Some people said I looked tired, but I’m far from tired. I have a lot of energy left. I’m not just gearing up to coach two final games, I’m gearing up to coach every year in the playoffs as well. Unfortunately we’ll be done early this year.”
Running back Clinton Portis said, “He knows he’s not the worst coach in America. He feels like he let something slip away. We’re losing so everyone feels bad. It’s not coach Zorn. It’s not one person you can point out and take the blame for what’s happened.”
Meanwhile, linebacker London Fletcher was disappointed that he did not earn a Pro Bowl spot.
“You look at my body of work and I’ve done it for 11 years,” Fletcher said. “But because I’m not causing a lot of controversy … I don’t garner a lot of attention. My career has been Hall of Fame worthy. But some coaches and some players get caught up in the hype or listening to some national TV game as opposed to watching the game with no sound and seeing what I do. It’s some BS. I’ll put myself up against anybody playing the position. Anybody.”
