Injuries, poor hitting hurt farm teams

Orioles Director of Minor League Operations David Stockstill has said one thing he wants to emphasize throughout the organization is winning from Rookie League to the Triple-A level.

However, that has not been the case for most of Baltimore?s affiliates this year as the six farm teams have a combined 166-184 record through Tuesday. Single-A Aberdeen has the best record currently in the organization with its 10-4 start (.714 winning percentage) in the New York-Penn League. Single-A Frederick, which won the Carolina League title last year, has the worst record in the system at 32-48 overall (6-5 in the second half of the season).

“Frederick has been decimated by injuries, with their top four hitters all out at one point,” Stockstill said. “Bowie has been hurt by a lot of roster moves while they have just not hit as well as we would like. As for Delmarva, they have just hit a rough stretch in a long season. As for Aberdeen, they have gotten outstanding pitching.”
