With Mystics reeling, Hargrove backs Rollins

Mystics general manager Linda Hargrove gave her support tohead coach Tree Rollins despite five consecutive losses for the Mystics (2-7) entering tonight’s game at Chicago.

“The part that’s just frustrating is the injuries that we’ve had at one position,” said Hargrove, pointing to the Mystics’ continued issues at point guard. “That’s where we haven’t be able to get any kind of consistency. That’s as big an issue right now as anything.”

Rollins said Nikki Blue, who came off the bench to contribute five assists against Sacramento on Wednesday — her first appearance after missing five games with an ankle injury — will likely return to the starting lineup against the Sky (3-4).

“In practice we’re back to juvenile drills, as far as ball handling,” said Rollins after the Mystics committed 19 more turnovers versus the Monarchs.

With Washington reeling, Hargrove indicated she does expect to make roster moves soon.

“It’s concerning because we did not anticipate being 2-7,” she said. “We certainly didn’t think we would be in this position when the season started, but we are in that position and thing is, how do we move on from here?”
