Georgetown at UMass
By dropping a one-goal heartbreaker to Loyola last week, the Hoyas (5-6, 1-3 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference) were eliminated from contention for the first place in the ECAC and therefore its automatic NCAA bid. However, Georgetown can play spoiler, and thus knocking off the Minutemen (7-3, 4-0) would keep the conference race up for grabs.
“We’re just going to stick together,” said Hoyas junior midfielder Andrew Brancaccio. “That’s the most important thing. We have three more games. Hopefully we’ll win the rest.”
Brancaccio and Ricky Mirabito continue to pace the Hoyas with 19 goals apiece. UMass boasts fearsome face-off specialist Joe Reale, who has won 85 of 100 battles at the X this season, and leading scorers Jim Connolly (26 goals) and Tim Balise (21 goals).
