Right night we don’t know yet if Adam Dunn we be returning next season to play with the Nationals but he is a fan favorite. The big slugger has been very active in the Washington area with charities, using his deep drives to help kids in the D.C. area improve their golf swings.
As part of a season-long promotion, Dunn earned a new set of Callaway Diablo Edge clubs with his 479 foot homerun versus the Braves on Sept. 14. If that sounds like a familiar tape-measure tale, it’s because Dunn already received a brand new set of Callaway clubs in May, when he crushed a 471 foot homerun versus the Rockies. Rather than accept the second set of sticks for himself, Dunn teamed up with Callaway to donate clubs to The Jimmy Garvin Legacy Foundation, a local youth organization that educates inner-city kids about golf and good sportsmanship. Dunn and Callaway made a similar donation to the Jimmy Garvin Legacy Foundation in May in honor of Dunn’s 471 foot homerun.
Throughout the 2010 season, Callaway has been rewarding professional baseball players who hit homeruns over 470 feet with a full set of Diablo Edge clubs. Dunn is one of four players to slug their way to a new set of Diablo Edge clubs. Other members of the 470-foot club include Jason Heyward, Josh Hamilton and Colby Rasmus. Dunn’s blast against the Braves is the third-longest home run in all of baseball this season.
