A couple weeks ago, there was a chance it might be English forward Marlon Harewood. Unlikely, due to cost demands.
The latest name to surface is Dutch midfielder Edwin de Graaf. (Thanks, Charles Boehm of MLSsoccer.com for pointing it out.) Still tracking this one down, but it doesn’t completely match the rumors that I had been hearing of late. If nothing else, however, he fits the profile: 30 years old, not under contract, apparently weighing an extension with NAC Breda with interest from D.C. and Duisburg in Germany. That’s if my Dutch (wink wink) is proficient.
Who knows.
What we do know is that United head coach Curt Onalfo made mention in his postgame presser of having the chance during the MLS break to “really address some things and continue to move a long as a group,” which was a clear reference to anticipated signings.
Clearly, they’re coming.
