» The Redskins are in trouble on the edge against the Dallas outside linebackers, as evidenced on the first play. Anthony Spencer is underrated and dangerous.
» Loved the middle screen to Quinton Ganther. The Redskins never adjusted to the Giants’ pressure up the middle last week. They finally responded with a middle screen when Dallas tried to blitz through the same gaps.
» Derrick Dockery got shoved back on the Jason Campbell interception, allowing the pressure that forced Campbell to step up into the pocket. He’s supposed to be the steady one; the Redskins have to give so much help to the outside that they can’t afford Dockery to mess up.
» If the Redskins can’t get to Tony Romo, he will pick them apart. They sent five on the 16-yard pass to Patrick Crayton over the middle against their two-deep. Crayton just sat down in front of the safeties and LaRon Landry missed another shoulder tackle. At what point does he learn those don’t work?
» Kedric Golston got shoved back on the second and 1 from the Redskins’ 10-yard line. That’s not like him – against most teams. But he had that happen more than a few times against this line in the first meeting. But Golston nearly got Romo on his touchdown pass.
» Shaun Suisham was roundly booed before Dallas’ extra point.
» Mike Williams picked up the stunt well, but could not sustain his block against Jay Ratliff. He’s too quick for Williams. It almost has to be that the linemen should just anticipate Campbell having to step up after a couple seconds so they interior guys must hold their blocks longer. Did not seem Williams had that sort of awareness. But he did have him blocked until Ratliff saw his chance and pounced.
» Nice to see the geriatric set have a good defensive stand. First Phillip Daniels had a sack, forced by Andre Carter’s pressure. Then Cornelius Griffin got off his block to make a tackle (helped by Albert Haynesworth being double teamed). Then London Fletcher drilled Patrick Crayton. Looked like Crayton saw what was coming; did not stretch out for that pass. Can’t say I blame him.
» Not sure I’ve seen a guy who either has the timing Stephon Heyer does or who gets away with a false start on many plays.
» Anthony Spencer abused Fred Davis on a stop for no gain of Marcus Mason. Just drilled Davis back. Davis struggled to block him in the first game, too. He’s improved as a blocker, but these ‘backers excel vs. the run.
» The Cowboys are preventing Washington from finishing its blocks up front. Too often guys are getting off their men to make tackles. Mike Williams is having a tough time sustaining his blocks.
