Dave Trembley found his right-hand man Tuesday.
The Orioles manager completed his coaching staff by hiring Dave Jauss as bench coach.
Jauss, 50, was the bench coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers the past two seasons.
Before spending a decade in Boston?s minor league system, Jauss was the Orioles? coordinator of minor league instruction in 1995. He was Boston?s first base coach from 1997-99.
In other coaching news, Trembley?s predecessor as manager, Sam Perlozzo, was hired as the third base coach for the Seattle Mariners, according to an Associated Press report. Perlozzo was a finalist for the Seattle managerial position in 2003, and also served as a Mariners? coach from 1993-95.
The Orioles also announced the team will open the 2008 season at home for the 39th time in the past 55 years. Tampa Bay visits Oriole Park at Camden Yards on March 31 to open the season, which includes the team’s first trip to Chicago’s historic Wrigley Field. Other interleague series include matchups against the Washington Nationals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers. The Orioles also visit Yankee Stadium, in its last season, for the final time from Sept. 19-21.
