The Wizards needed only a weekend without injured John Wall before bringing in a replacement to shore up the point guard position during his 8-week absence.
Just prior to the team’s media day, Washington has added veteran journeyman Jannero Pargo. His contract is a partially guaranteed one-year deal, according to reports.
Pargo, who will turn 33 later this month, has played for five different teams since his first season in the NBA in 2002-03 when he joined the Los Angeles Lakers undrafted out of Arkansas. He’s appeared in 429 career games, with 18 total starts. That’s 15 more than A.J. Price (150 games, three starts) and Shelvin Mack (64 games, zero starts) combined.
Pargo also has career averages of 6.5 points and 2.0 assists per game and put up 5.6 points and 1.9 assists in 50 games with Atlanta last season.
He’s a career 35 percent shooter from 3-point range, and Wizards fans may remember him from the 2005 playoffs, where he hit 10 threes for Chicago in the final three games of Washington’s 4-2 win over the Bulls – the last time the Wizards won a playoff series.
