An Arlington County jury has found Jorge Torrez guilty of raping and abducting one woman and robbing another in separate incidents in February.
The former Marine was found guilty on 13 of the 16 charges against him, according to the Arlington County Circuit Court clerk’s office. He was acquitted on three firearm offenses.
Torrez, whose trial began Tuesday, is also linked through DNA to the 2005 killings of two young girls in Illinois, where he used to live. He has not been charged in Illinois.
On Tuesday, a 23-year-old graduate student testified that Torrez restrained her and a friend in the friend’s house on Feb. 27. The graduate student said Torrez then drove to a wooded area, raped her and tried to strangle her with her own scarf.
Another woman, a 26-year-old nurse, testified that Torrez tried to lead her into his vehicle on Feb. 10, and robbed her of her purse.
