In perhaps the unlikeliest appearance of a musical act on Capitol Hill since System of a Down lobbied for recognition of the Armenian genocide two years ago, the heavy metal band Drowning Pool turned up Wednesday with Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Pa., to support expanded mental health care for returning veterans.

The Dallas-based band, known for its 2001 hit “Bodies,” has teamed up with the Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America.
The band is donating a portion of the profits from its current “This Is for the Soldiers” tour to the IAVA and the USO.
Earlier in the year, Drowning Pool helped launch www.thisisforthesoldiers.org and have been collecting signatures in support of the proposed legislation.
