Wambach’s woes over » Freedom forward Abby Wambach finally got her first goals in WPS play last weekend, scoring the first and fourth goals — the latter also serving as the match-winner — in a 4-3 win at FC Gold Pride which also served as the first victory for Washington (1-2-1). Wambach, who leads WPS in shots (19) and shots on goal (9), was named WPS player of the week for her efforts.

St. Louis slow out of the blocks » With U.S. national team goalkeeper Hope Solo in the net, Athletica (0-2-1) has given up just three goals, but they’re also yet to score. Daniela and Lori Chalupny lead the team with nine shots apiece.

Goalkeeper questions » Uncertainty has developed in the Washington net, where Kati Jo Spisak replaced Briana Scurry for the first time last weekend, only to surrender three goals. The Freedom have signed Canadian netminder Erin McLeod, but her arrival has been delayed due to visa issues.

Hamm, Mullinix to be honored » Former WUSA Freedom members Mia Hamm and Siri Mullinix will be inducted into Washington’s “Hall of Freedom” at halftime of Sunday’s match.
