Week 14 NFL superlatives

Breaking down the best and worst from Week 14 of the NFL: 5. Best redemption: John Skelton » The Cardinals backup quarterback replaced Kevin Kolb and got revenge against the 49ers, a team that beat Arizona 23-7 when Skelton was benched after three interceptions. He threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns to rally the Cardinals to a 21-19 win.

4. Best two-minute drill: T.J. Yates » The rookie quarterback came up big, driving the Texans 80 yards with a little more than two minutes left and no timeouts remaining. He capped off the biggest drive in Texans history with a 6-yard touchdown pass with two seconds left for a 20-19 victory that sent them into the playoffs for the first time.

3. Worst noncall: Vikings » With Minnesota a yard away from a potential go-ahead touchdown with nine seconds left against the Lions, quarterback Joe Webb fumbled as DeAndre Levy appeared to grab Webb’s face mask. A penalty would have given the Vikings one more opportunity to win with no time on the clock.

2. Best season save: Giants » Down by 12 against the Cowboys, Eli Manning spearheaded two scoring drives in the final 3:41. Jason Pierre-Paul’s blocked field goal in the final seconds helped the Giants escape with a 37-34 win, which gave them the NFC East lead.

1. Best repetitive storyline: Broncos » Tim Tebow again came up big in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter. This time, he helped Denver erase a 10-0 deficit in the final 2:08 to force overtime and stun the Bears 13-10. The Broncos have trailed in the second half in six of the seven wins since Tebow became the starter.
