Far removed from the glitz and glamour of the NBA, dozens of players came to the Baltimore Athletic Club gym Saturday, hoping for a chance to make the Baltimore Pearls of the American Basketball Association. Pearl hopefuls ? some of whom played in college while others never advanced past high school ? got a chance to show off their shooting, rebounding and passing skills to the coaching staff, as they tried to secure one of the 15 available roster spots. The Pearls begin their second season this fall and are looking to improve on last year?s 2-26 record.
