Hotel unveiled a new exhibit of memorabilia from Negro Leagues legend Josh Gibson.

Gibson played his ball for the Pittsburgh Crawfords and the Homestead Grays, who split their home games between Pittsburgh and Washington.

Gibson’s great-grandson Sean Gibson unveiled the brand new display case containing his great-grandfather’s memorabilia. He also threw out the first pitch at RFK Wednesday night.

In response to a question, he said his family harbors no bitterness that baseball wasn’t integrated during his great-grandfather’s prodigious career (statistics from the Negro Leagues are hard to come by, but he is credited with as many as 800 home runs).

James Tillman, a teammate of Gibson’s on the Grays, said on Wednesday, “Josh once told me you could feel when you were going to hit a homerun by the feel of the bat.”
