Not-so-serious area college football rankings:
1. Maryland » Three weeks ago, the Terps suffered the worst loss in program history. But after the win over No. 20 Clemson, Maryland sits atop the ACC Atlantic Division. Airlines are reportedly adding flights from DC area to Tampa for December and February.
2. Virginia Tech » Now everyone knows the truth: it wasn’t the Hokie offense that was under performing — it was quarterback Sean Glennon. Well, maybe. Sophomore signal caller Tyrod Taylor is 8-0 as a starter but hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass. Orange sales again on the rise in Blacksburg.
3. Navy » The Midshipmen looked like anything but a contender to play in their sixth consecutive bowl game after losing at Ball State, but consecutive wins over Rutgers and No. 16 Wake Forest have saved their season. Navy fans remain stunned that the Terps are winning solely to avoid the dreaded lose-lose bowl against them yet again.
4. Virginia » Not only were the Cavaliers a seven-point underdog to Duke last weekend, now they are Duke after losing to the perennial conference cellar dwellers, 31-3 in Durham. With a ban on negative banners at Scott Stadium, we can’t wait to see the creative ways that Cavs fans will say “Fire Al Groh,” next weekend when the Terps are in town. Virginia has been outscored 128-36 this season.
