Guests 9, Bimbo 4, Ties 3

Bimbo reads with amusement of the flailings of another prognosticating monkey, Armani, who earlier this year predicted the presidential nominees would be Hillary Clinton and Mike Huckabee.

You may remember Armani, that other famous capuchin, who lives in Rockville with her owner, Elyse Gazewitz. She is the “Monkey Lady” who won a protracted legal battle to keep Armani in her home after animal control officers — the bane of every primates’ existence — made off with her.

Anyway, Armani is also in the prognostication business. And although she rallied to predict that Barak Obama would win the election (must be the ears), Bimbo warns that Armani is wading into the deep end of the talent pool. This is business best left to professionals.

Note to Armani: We have worked with Bimbo. We know Bimbo. Bimbo is a friend of ours. You, Armani, are no Bimbo.

Rolling with Bimbo is best left to the elite of the breed. Bimbo loves the action, loves the life. Her ties to the gambling world often put her in the company of undesirables — baboons, mandrills, Wayne Allyn Root. But she remains above the fray, dedicated to her craft, with no economic motivation.

Last week, the Seer, Sage, and Soothsayer had another brilliant performance, going 10-4 and raising her season record to 83-61, but it wasn’t enough against Dave Sims, play-by-play man for CBS Radio, who clocked in at 11-2, abstaining from picking the Giants-Eagles game, the one Sims worked last week and one that Bimbo called incorrectly.

A less principled handicapper might throw that game out. But Bimbo stands by her selections, even if the competition punts. It’s that integrity that has brought the Little Omniscient One to the top of the sports handicapping business.

This week Bimbo faces another play-by-play man, Denis Casavant, often referred to as “the Canadian Al Michaels,” who calls NFL games in French on RDS, Canada’s version of ESPN.

This week Bimbo dedicates her picks to High Road Academy in Laurel, which recently completed a walk-a-thon to raise $870 for her and her friends at Frisky’s Wildlife and Primate Sanctuary.
