Caps send King to Hershey

The Capitals reassigned forward D.J. King to American Hockey League affiliate Hershey. The team and King’s agent, David Kaye, agreed late last month the player would be placed on waivers to gauge potential interest from the other 29 NHL teams. King went on waivers Oct. 31 and returned to Washington after no team claimed him.

King, 27, played in just 16 games last season with the Caps and has appeared just once this season.

Washington is down to 22 players with one open roster spot. But defenseman Mike Green (right ankle) is expected back soon, and forward Jay Beagle (concussion symptoms) has begun skating again.
