Maureece Rice was dismissed from the George Washington men’s basketball team after failing to adhere to team rules, the school announced prior to the Colonials’ game at Charlotte on Thursday.
Rice, who did not travel with the team to North Carolina on Wednesday, was suspended twice for single games during the season, against Longwood (Dec. 23) and UMBC (Nov. 24).
The Colonials’ lone senior, Rice looked into entering the NBA last offseason after averaging a team-high 15.8 points per game as a junior. This season his scoring fell to 9.2 points per game, along with 2.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.
Reached by phone, members of Rice’s family in Philadelphia declined to comment.
