Short-yardage weapon clashed with Edsall
Maryland has released running back D.J. Adams from his scholarship, the sophomore confirmed on Wednesday. After a freshman year in which he carried 67 times for 239 yards and 11 touchdowns and showed ability as a short-yardage weapon, Adams had a decreased role this year under new coach Randy Edsall. He rushed 40 times for 174 yards and four scores.
Adams (5-10, 220) was suspended for the Terps opener against Miami and played intermittently afterward. Earlier this week, Maryland released starting defensive end David Mackall from his scholarship. Adams is the 14th player with eligibility left to depart the program since Edsall took over.
