CSN to broadcast 71 Caps games

Capitals fans won’t have to worry about missing a single game on television this season. Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic announced on Monday that it will broadcast 71 games on either its main channel (61) or on CSN+ (10) – the overflow channel carried by most area cable systems and satellite providers when conflicts occur.

Of course, considering we have no idea when the NBA will start – if at all – this season, a few of those Caps games could migrate back to regular old CSN. Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin will once again call the action along with longtime sideline reporter Al Koken. That trio enters its 15th season together.

The other 11 games will be broadcast nationally by NBC or its cable partner, VERSUS. That network will be renamed NBC Sports Network on Jan. 2, 2012. According to CSN, rating for Caps games have gone up by double digits in each of the last four seasons.
