He skipped a chance to try out with Orlando last season. Roger Mason figured he wouldn’t get much of an opportunity to show what he could do. So he opted for security, and a chance to play, signing with a team in Israel.
“I got to play and improve my game,” said the Good Counsel High alumnus. “Now I’m ready to take another shot.”
Mason, a 6-foot-5 guard who played at Virginia, will participate with Washington in the summer league. He spent two years in the NBA, appearing in 43 games, after the Bulls drafted him in the second round in 2002.
This will be his fourth summer league season. He’s hoping for more than just a fall invite, whether it’s here or elsewhere. But his intentions are clear.
“If they tell me to go jump off somewhere, I’ll do it,” he said. “I just want to be here. This would be a dream for me.”
