…When Bruce Allen was asked about why the Redskins tendered Jason Campbell at only a first-round tender (rather than a first and a third for $125,000 more), he said, “We thought all the tenders were appropriate for the players.”
…Allen was not bothered by comments from cornerback Carlos Rogers regarding his treatment the past year and a half. One thing Rogers must keep in mind: this group had nothing to do with his benching.
“I would imagine if we read the papers tomorrow or the blogs or listen to the television, we’ll see players across the league that have concerns and issues with the current system,” Allen said. “I look at that as just the nature of the world we’re living in right now. I don’t consider that a problem.”
…There were some indications that Washington would pursue safety Antrel Rolle, however reports tonight suggest other teams, including his former team, Arizona, and Chicago are more in the running to sign him. Linebacker Karlos Dansby was reportedly flying to Miami tonight; however that rumor was shot down by Miami reporters.
…It was a surreal day at Redskins Park because of all the moves. Haven’t seen anything like this, when the locker room was gutted the way it was Thursday. I feel bad for Chris Samuels, who clearly wanted to have his day with this retirement presser. But within a few hours close friends were out of work.
…At this time last year, Redskins staffers were told to prepare bios on a couple players (Albert Haynesworth and Chris Canty). There is not that same urgency tonight. Not yet at least.
…Free agent center Casey Wiegmann, who played one season for Mike Shanahan in Denver, visited Redskins Park today. But there were also reports that Casey Rabach would re-sign Thursday night.
…Linebacker Rocky McIntosh is another who wasn upset about what he considered to be a low tender. But Allen said, “Rocky does fit into our team; that’s why we tendered him. He’s a good player who has a bright future.”
