Beard happy to dish

Mystics guard Alana Beard (16.6 ppg) doesn’t care that she hasn’t scored in double figures in five of the last six games.

“I’ve been pretty consistent,” joked Beard after nine points and nine assists against Seattle on Sunday.

The Mystics (9-14) hope to prove the win wasn’t a fluke and want payback against the Liberty (12-10), who beat Washington by 21 points last week.

Beard, along with Monique Currie, has the green light every time down the floor under interim head coach Jessie Kenlaw’s simplified offensive scheme.

“Her philosophy is just pushing the ball,” said Beard.

Seattle’s 57 points also matched the second-lowest total against Washington this season.

“Our defense had some fluidity to it,” said Mystics forward Taj McWilliams-Franklin. “Even when we were out of position people were rotating just to help.”
