Arundel foes shine bright

After a murky weekend, local softball teams are hoping the weather clears up and the forecast has some much-needed wins in store.

Amongst a half-dozen Anne Arundel County contests, the headline battle will be between visiting Severna Park (10-3) and Glen Burnie (11-2). That game is set for 4 p.m. today.

Glen Burnie won the last contest, which came in 2005, but both coaches expect a tight contest this time around.

“I look for it to be low scoring and down to the wire,” Severna Park coach Jeff Shepherd said.

Both teams lost close games within the last week, and are looking to rebound in this one.

“You can?t look back in this county,” said head coach Bob Broccolino, whose Gophers? two losses have come to Northeast (Anne Arundel).

The key will be whether or not the powerful Glen Burnie bats can solve Falcons? ace Kaila Jenkins, who has tossed four no-hitters this spring.
