A District man pleaded guilty to cruelty to children for leaving a 10-month-old baby alone in a bathtub, where she suffered severe burns and nearly drowned.
Edward J. Saunders, 21, was taking care of the baby while her mother, Saunders’ then-girlfriend, was running errands.
He gave the girl a bath, and left her alone in the bathtub to watch television, prosecutors said. The baby suffered scalding burns before Saunders returned to the bathroom five to 10 minutes later.
Saunders faces up to 30 years in prison.
