Baltimore Ravens land Joe Flacco

The Baltimore Ravens agreed to a five-year deal with quarterback Joe Flacco late Wednesday night, Flacco’s agent Joe Linta said.

With a deal in place, the 18th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft will report to training camp on time, which starts Monday at McDaniel College in Westminster.

Linta began talks with the Ravens Tuesday with the two sides agreeing to terms around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Flacco, who starred at the University of Delaware, is expected to compete with Kyle Boller and Troy Smith for the starting quarterback job as the Ravens look to bounce back from a 5-11 season.

Flacco started his college career at Pittsburgh before transferring to Delaware. In two seasons with the Blue Hens, he completed 63.4 percent of his passes while throwing for 7,046 yards 41 touchdown passes and 15 interceptions. He led Delaware to the Football Championship Subdivision (formally Division I-AA) in 2007.
