Redskins-Chargers third quarter review

End of 3rd: Redskins 17, Chargers 13

1st Qtr | 2nd Qtr | 3rd Qtr | 4th Qtr

» Fred Davis is having a tough game catching the ball. Already has dropped two passes. His blocking has been adequate at best.

» How in the world does Stephon Heyer not even look at the guy lined up at end on the pass rush. I mean, he never tilted his head that way and instead doubled down on the tackle while the end rushed free at Jason Campbell for an easy sack.

» Campbell has been very accurate since his first few throws of the game. It helps that many of his passes have been sideways, but he is getting rid of the ball well.

» Antwaan Randle El lives! He fielded the ball inside the 10-yard line on a punt, usually a no-no. But the ball got down there so quick that Randle El had to know he’d have a chance for a good return. It’s one of the few times a returner will field the ball in that situation.

» Fred Davis showed up with the catch and run on the third and 1 bootleg pass for 14 yards. He loves trying to jump over defenders, but it’s not the smartest thing for him to do.

» It’s hard to judge the Redskins’ offense today considering the Chargers backups are in the game. But imagine what would be said if they weren’t producing in this situation.

» Jason Campbell had no chance on the third and goal pass; the Chargers overloaded a side and no one was open, even for a split second.

» Graham Gano makes me nervous every time he kicks and the 22-yarder showed why; just an ugly low kick.

» Randle El returned to his old ways on his next punt. Made an unnecessary move and it cost him another potentially good return.

» Nice job by Rocky McIntosh of reading QB Billy Volek on the interception. Volek saw him, but underestimated McIntosh on his drop.

» Derrick Dockery failed to come off his double team to get the linebacker, on a first and 10 run late in the quarter. Otherwise, the run might have been a good one instead of a no gainer.
