Opposites attract
Michael Gerson is no Bono, but he is friends with him. Speaking at the Religion Newswriters Association conference on Thursday, the former Bush administration speechwriter admitted that Bono recently took him, along with his wife, to his first rock concert. “It was loud,” said Gerson, clearly hinting that perhaps that’s why he’d never been to one before. The anecdote was meant as a way to show that people from different political parties and religious background can be friends and have similar goals for humanity. His wife agrees. He said that after the concert she pointed out, “You’re both idealists in principle, but it would be nice if you were rich and cool too.”
