NFL legend Len Dawson enters hospice care aged 87

Legendary NFL quarterback Len Dawson has entered hospice care.

Dawson, an NFL Hall of Famer, has entered care at the age of 87, his family confirmed to Kansas City‘s FOX4.

The star quarterback led the Kansas City Chiefs to their first Super Bowl title, and was Super Bowl MVP in his team’s 23-7 triumph over Minnesota in 1970.

Dawson spent more than a decade with the Chiefs after playing his college ball at Purdue. His spent his first three years of his career bouncing around the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland, before joining the American Football League’s Dallas Texans in 1962. The Texans were moved to Kansas City the following season, and Dawson never left.

After hanging up his cleats, the quarterback carved out an equally-impressive broadcasting career, which was recognized in 2012 when he was put into the Hall of Fame specifically for his work in the booth.
