For Johns Hopkins (4-2), which lost Saturday at Hofstra, 14-6, this season is starting to look like 2009 when the Blue Jays lost three straight in March before rallying to reach the NCAA quarterfinals for the 19th straight year. Syracuse (3-1) attackmen Chris Daniello (9 goals, 6 assists) and Cody Jamieson (7 goals, 4 assists) will challenge JHU, which is struggling in goal. Sophomore Steven Burke (Bullis) replaced 3-year starting senior Mike Gvozden early against Hofstra.

After the graduation of Jeremy Blevins, UMBC (1-4) is struggling in goal, with three keepers combining for a 37.2 save percentage. A brutal March schedule (UNC, JHU, Princeton) hasn’t helped. Retrievers have a potent midfield is propelled by Kyle Wimmer (5 goals, 10 assists) and Bobby Stockton (11 goals, 3 assists).

 

Holy Cross at Navy

Injury-riddled Navy (3-4) is off to its worst start since 1996 after a 10-9 loss to winless Towson Wednesday night when the Mids surrendered a goal to Christian Pastirik with 6 seconds left. Holy Cross (2-5) is led by Chris Smirti (14 goals). Navy counters with Patrick Moran (11 goals, 5 assists) and Andy Warner (10 goals, 6 assists).

 

Georgetown at Providence

In the newly-formed Big East, Providence (0-4) should be easy pickings for Georgetown (3-2). The Friars have lost eight straight dating to April, 2009. GU goalie C.T. Fisher had 16 saves in a 13-11 win Wednesday at home over Delaware.
