As opposed to last year, when Navy opened with a daunting task at Ohio State, the Midshipmen have a much more manageable schedule this year. In fact, it is so manageable that some have speculated that 12-0 is possible.
The toughest games figure to be at Wake Forest, against Maryland (in Baltimore), and against Notre Dame (in East Rutherford, N.J.). Otherwise, the schedule is full of directional schools.

The last time Navy went undefeated was 1926, when the Midshipmen were 8-0-1 under Bill Ingram.
Say “undefeated” to a Mid, however, and the reaction will be a roll of the eyes and something to the effect of, “Get back to me in November if the question still applies.”
To keep the Mids focused at the start of practice, quarterback Ricky Dobbs decided that players should turn in their cell phones.
“We’ll give them back Saturday after practice,” said Dobbs. “It will make us depend on each other as opposed to calling family members for something.”
