GOP Already Tees Up Anti-Franken Site

Early attack

In 2006, the National Republican Senatorial Committee unveiled a host of Web sites designed purely to attack and poke fun at their Democratic adversaries.

Comedian and radio host Al Franken must be keeping its members awake at night, because just last week, the campaign organization launched its anti-Franken site, about 15 months before the election that’s expected to pit him against Republican Sen. Norm Coleman in the Minnesota Senate race.

FranklyFranken.com kicks off with a YouTube video that highlights Franken’s comments about the troops over the last three years. In 2005, he says we “can’t afford to lose” in Iraq, and in March of this year, he discusses the “awe” he has for the troops. But on June 14, he says, “I think you make the president cut off funding for the troops.”

The site, which is under construction, also features a quote by Franken in which he says his “life” is in New York City and that his children have grown up as New Yorkers.
