Poor Paris …
First, Ms. Hilton is nearly brought to tears by Sarah Silverman’s brutal comedy routine at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. Then she has to head to jail. And, now, America’s elected officials are speaking out against her.
At a House Armed Services Committee hearing Wednesday on soldier protection, Rep. Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawaii, refuted charges from a witness (former Pentagon weapons tester Philip Coyle III) that the committee did not heed a news report aired on NBC detailing the need for better protective systems for soldiers.
“It’s not a Republican issue. It’s not a Democratic issue. It is not an issue of contending with networks, who when they finish their discussion of the active protection system or the body armor, went on to their ads for erectile dysfunction or a murder or whether or not some celebrity slut was going to jail.”
Ouch. But it didn’t end there. Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Ga., later spoke about the publicity Pinnacle Armor Inc. generated for his product. “It sounds like maybe this is the Stewart, Downey, Hilton, as in Martha, Robert and Paris, model of success. So it’s kind of interesting.”
