Despite playing the most games in the NBA, the Detroit Pistons are still looking for their first victory.
The Pistons dropped to a franchise-worst 0-8 after getting outscored 30-17 in the fourth quarter during a 92-90 loss to the Thunder on Monday night.
Bad contracts have crippled the franchise.
Corey Maggette, who has yet to play this season because of a calf injury, is the team’s highest-paid player at $10.9 million. Detroit traded Ben Gordon and a future first-round pick for the 33-year-old who is in the last year of his deal.
Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villanueva both have two years at more than $8 million per year left on their contracts.
So far this season Stuckey has averaged 9.3 points a game while shooting 28.2 percent from the field, and Villanueva has played nine minutes and has been a “coach’s decision — DNP” in seven of the eight games.
Former Georgetown center Greg Monroe and 19-year-old Andre Drummond, the No. 9 pick in the draft, may be the only players on this roster worth keeping.
