FedEx Cup: Tiger to the rescue

Drumming up interest in the FedEx Cup has always been a challenge. But PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem couldn’t have asked for anything more than Tiger Woods’ opening-round 65 (6-under-par) in the Barclays Championship on Thursday.

After two sessions with swing coach Sean Foley last week in Orlando, Woods missed only one fairway and two greens at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J. Woods made seven birdies and needed just 27 putts.

It was his best round on the PGA Tour since a 62 at the third round of the BMW Championship last September.
