Ravens tight end Todd Heap is the greatest receiver in team history. He has 366 catches for 4,173 yards and 30 touchdowns since being selected with the 31st pick in the 2001 draft. Heap, 28, had four catches for 39 yards and a touchdown in a 34-3 victory over the Bengals on Sunday. Heap has 27 catches for 276 yards and three touchdowns this season.
How much better can the Ravens’ offense get?
I think the offense is only going to open up more things for more guys. I think this is what we’ve been waiting for in an offense. We’re versatile, and a lot of guys are making plays and a lot of guys are getting the ball in their hands. To see that show up this week is a lot of fun and it’s what we need as an offense.
Are you concerned with how the Ravens are perceived around the country?
If we do what we’re suppose to and play the game the way we’ve been this season, I think the people will find out for themselves [how good we are]. I think that’s why they put us on Sunday night against Washington.
How important is playing three of your final four games at M&T Bank Stadium?
That will be nice to end the season playing at home. That is one of the most fun things to do —play in front of our home crowd.
Do you feel the Ravens are finally getting some breaks after going 5-11 last season and missing the playoffs for the third time in four years?
The ball just seems to bounce our way and find our way into the end zone. It’s funny how those things happen. Sometimes you just can’t explain it. I think overall, we’ve just put a lot of work in to get where we are at this point.
