While Jerry Rice was the most productive receiver in NFL history, Randy Moss may have been the most talented.
Moss, 34, retired Monday tied with Terrell Owens for second in career receiving touchdowns. He is also fifth in yards and tied for eighth in receptions.
His combination of size and speed made Moss the most dangerous deep threat ever to play in the league.
But did Moss fully live up to his capabilities? A scary thought considering his accomplishments.
Two years of his prime were spent underachieving in Oakland. His 1,558 yards and 11 touchdowns in 29 games with the Raiders don’t even match his totals from his 2003 season in Minnesota.
And his production drastically dropped off last year with a career-low 393 receiving yards on three different teams.
There’s no doubt Moss is a Hall of Famer, but he could have been better than Rice.
