Predators sign G Hellberg to entry level deal

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Nashville Predators have signed goaltender Magnus Hellberg of Sweden to an entry-level contract.

The Predators announced the deal Monday with the 21-year-old player. He was their top choice at No. 38 overall in the second round in the 2011 entry draft.

Hellberg played with Frolunda in the Swedish Elite League last season with a 2.65 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. The 6-foot-5 goalie also played with Frolunda’s junior team in Sweden’s second league.

He led all juniors with a .936 save percentage and 2.04 goals-against average with Almtuna in 2010-11. He ranked fourth in Sweden’s second division with five shutouts.
