Now that former Senate leader Trent Lott has retired from the Senate and started up a lobbying shop with another former senator — John Breaux — the Mississippian is wasting no time signing up new clients.

Lott (of “The Breaux-Lott Leadership Group,” the formation of which was announced this month) was spotted in Arlington’s 1100 Wilson Blvd. building Thursday and it should be noted that the building houses several lobbying gold mines: defense contractors (such as the Raytheon Company).

Obviously, a good lobbyist has to keep his workings quiet, but a spokesperson at Breaux-Lott said that “yeah, he’s making house calls.”

Warren, the author of “The Purpose Driven Life,” will engage in a public chat with cathedral Dean Sam Lloyd before the 11:15 a.m. service, at which Warren will also preach.
