Bimbo meets the local gridiron masters

Forget that their teams are playing for state football titles this weekend.

For River Hill?s Brian Van Deusen, Dunbar?s Lawrence Smith, Arundel?s Chuck Markiewicz and Hereford?s Steve Turnbaugh, the big day is Sunday.

That?s when each coach will find out if they can pick more NFL winners than Baltimore?s greatest monkey of all time: Bimbo.

Bimbo went 9-7 last week, which ended a month-long rampage in which the pigskin-picking princess went 46-14 to establish the 36-year-old as possibly the smartest monkey in the history of the world.

Bimbo?s record last week tied Stephen Berger, a Columbia native who is an All-Star midfielder for Major League Lacrosse?s Long Island Lizards. But Bimbo was defeated by Brian Rogers (11-5), the chairman and chief investment officer for T. Rowe Price, and Laura Gamble, who is the president of Bank of America, Maryland. Bimbo can?t speak human, but rumor is she didn?t mind losing to a female.

Bimbo will not be at the high school championship games this weekend at M&T Bank Stadium, but she envisions more than 70,000 fans exiting the stadium very unhappy on Sunday when Peyton Manning and Co. defeat the Ravens.
