Rick Hendrick became the George Steinbrenner of NASCAR when he was the winner of the Dale Earnhardt, Jr sweepstakes.
The press conference was carried live on ESPNews, Speed, Sirius, XM, ESPN Radio and Fox Sports radio and NASCAR.COM.
While no figures were disclosed the estimates were around $57 million dollars in endorsements and marketing.
There were some big questions still yet to be answered.
Will Dale still run in a #8 car?
Will Budweiser still be his sponsor?
Will Dale take over the #5 Chevy that is presently being driven by Kyle Busch?
Where will Kyle Busch land?
What we do know is that Hendrick Motor Sports star studded team of Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson were clearly OK with the decision to add Earnhardt to the stable.
We also know that Earnhardt still wants to be #8 but it will be up to DEI to release or sale the number to Hendrick Motor Sports.
The big news is that Earnhardt will be given all the toys that he feels he needs to be a real championship contender year in and year out.
Now look for NASCAR numbers to be up with three of the top drivers being under one roof that is a real draw and is a potential soap opera and at the same time could be some of the best competition we have seen in years on the NASCAR scene.
