Week 3 Redskins report card

Report card

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER » Jason Campbell did not do anything spectacular, but instead he played a mature, steady game. He found the playmakers; he took care of the ball and he executed well, leading to two TD passes. He completed all six passes on the opening TD drive.

PRO BOWL PERFORMANCE » Carlos Rogers recovered a fumble and intercepted a tipped pass, returning it 42 yards to set up a TD. Rogers did an excellent job against Larry Fitzgerald, who caught a 62-yard scoring pass against zone coverage. Rogers played one of his best games in Washington.

OVERLOOKED » Rookie punter Durant Brooks had a much stronger day, averaging 42.0 net yards on four punts. He even pinned Arizona at the 4-yard line late in the second quarter with a 56-yarder, preventing a possible scoring march.

OOPS! » The Redskins could have had another touchdown if not for right tackle Stephon Heyer. He was flagged for a personal foul for apparently hitting Cardinal DT Darnell Dockett in the head, wiping out a 68-yard TD pass to Devin Thomas.

From the Sidelines

» Redskins coach Jim Zorn continues to attack and has developed a solid rhythm as a play caller. He wisely threw a bootleg on a second and 7 to effectively end the game. But Zorn is heavily reliant on the left side to run the ball.

» Arizona coach Ken Whisenhunt showed his creative side with a receiver throwback to the other side. But his team hurt itself in key situations, allowing the Redskins to pull away.

Entering last night’s game vs. Green Bay, Dallas had one of the most potent offenses in the NFL, led by QB Tony Romo and WR Terrell Owens. The Cowboys provide problems thanks to a power running attack and an explosive passing game.
