The conundrum that is Florida State

Florida State is the toughest team in college basketball to figure out.

The No. 20 Seminoles have a 33-point win over No. 8 North Carolina, ended No.5 Duke’s 45-game home win streak and held No. 22 Virginia to 55 points in a win at home.

But as impressive as those victories are, they also have several puzzling defeats.

Florida State has lost to two Ivy League schools — Harvard and Princeton — was beat by 20 points by Clemson and had its seven-game winning streak snapped last week by an 8-17 Boston College team.

Florida State ranks seventh in the country in field-goal percentage defense (37.5 percent).

But the Seminoles are inconsistent on offense, averaging just 70.9 points a game. When they are hitting their shots, like Deividas Dulkys did against the Tar Heels, this team is capable of beating any team in the country. But when they struggle offensively, they have proved they can lose to just about anyone.

They should be a fun team to deal with when filling out brackets in March.
