United plays to tie in CONCACAF semifinals

Luciano Emilio extended his streak of scoring in every match he’s played with D.C. United — a total of three games — nodding in a 91st minute equalizer to salvage a 1-1 tie with reigning Mexican league champion C.D. Guadalajara, a.k.a. “Chivas,”in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions’ Cup semifinals.

In steady rain and falling temperatures, a pro-Chivas crowd of 26,528 was United’s biggest at RFK Stadium since Freddy Adu’s debut April 3, 2004.

Mexican national team star Omar Bravo scored for Chivas on a header that deflected off United defender Bryan Namoff in the 63rd minute.

The second leg will be played in Guadalajara on April 3.

» United midfielder Brian Carroll was called into U.S. national team camp ahead of matches against Ecuador and Guatemala on March 25 and 28. He will be available for the April 3 match against Chivas.

D.C. also announced that is has signed draft picks Shawn Crowe and Brad North to developmental contracts.
