Wizards assistant coach Randy Wittman will assume head-coaching duties for the second time this season tonight against Golden State while Flip Saunders has returned to Cleveland to attend to his ailing mother, Kay.
Saunders missed practice on Tuesday to head back to Ohio, as he has done a few times over the past two months during the few periods when the Wizards have had more than a day between games.
Wittman coached for the first time in Saunders’s place on Dec. 29, for the same reason, guiding Washington to a 104-90 home victory over the Indiana Pacers.
