PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) — Retired NHL player Darren McCarty and his wife have dropped personal protection orders against three of four former friends in suburban Detroit.
The veteran of 15 NHL seasons who won four Stanley Cups with the Red Wings claimed harassment by the three women and one man. Orders against the man and two of the women have been dismissed. The order involving Tonya Juhl, an ex-girlfriend of McCarty, remains in effect.
McCarty and his wife, Sheryl, claimed the four tried to draw McCarty back into a partying lifestyle. McCarty has said harassment has included death threats.
Juhl challenged the order in Oakland County court. On Wednesday, she testified she didn’t threaten the McCartys. The next hearing is July 25.
McCarty spent 13 seasons with the Red Wings. He retired in 2009.
